I'm at core a blues lover who sings, plays guitar and harp, drawn to, writing and playing both acoustic and electric blues. Throughout my life have been blessed to work with amazing musical friends and associates who share my love for this music. And yes, Jesus is Lord and most important of all to me, make no mistake.
Did some cleaning, tossing and sorting in my office/workshop/storage space today and came across a press kit from when Spontaneous Combustion was released. Slightly surprised it's now 30 years this past February as I post the following in July, 2024. A LOT of words in the packet, but if you know me that's not uncommon. I'm a bit surprised they included them all -but along with the typos I suspect this was a mock-up by staff for my consideration rather than the finished press kit. And a few little coffee stains.
Note, here are simple pics, you'll likely have to enlarge 'em on your screen to read clearly.
I've often thought about how much I enjoyed doing S.C., my first electric solo blues in-studio effort after Trimmed And Burnin' and Slow Burn (both acoustic) -and with excellent Chicago musos.
Points worth mentioning: I didn't mention Jim Crow laws which were brutal and certainly part of Black folk's blues consciousness. All the lyrics were part of the kit (which I've not included here). Lastly, I didn't use the term "soul music" but that offshoot of blues was also a very, very prominent part of my listening and musical performance both vocal and guitar-wise in my teens prior to launching into rock -and beyond Resurrection (REZ) Band, back to blues again.
So without even more words, here are all of 'em from what may have been a mock-up release press kit via Grrr Records from the 1994 release :)
As always, thanks for stopping by! -Glenn
Thanks for sharing this. Very interested in the music aspect to Glenn Kaiser (rich history - exciting present/future). Any reason why you never collaborated with Darrell Mansfield since Slow Burn?
