Share?! WHY?!

I mean, why share when you can have it -all- for yourself? Or just share some of this or that, you know, a bit with those you already love. Well... doesn't God do that in the end? Ahhh... nope. "When we were yet sinners Christ died for us" is but one scripture that answers this.
I wrote and Resurrection Band recorded a song years ago I still stand by called "You Get What You Choose":
Where have we been and where are we goin', And who really cares?
A trip to the moon, a tryst in the desert, We fall down the stairs
Somebody wins and somebody loses - It's up to you
Someone's a fool and someone is a fighter - You get what you choose
Moses to Paul, Samson to Delilah, It's all the same
You sell out or you put out, And it ain't no game
Scars on our hearts, mud on our faces, On network TV
A passion for success, a love affair with money
It's time to get on our knees
Somebody wins and somebody loses, It's up to you
Someone's a fool and someone is a fighter - You get what you choose
All the talk in the world, It don't mean nothin'
Even when intentions are good
God sent his Son to make us be honest - Not just to make us feel good
Nothin' is worse than being a self-centered liar
And sometimes that's me and you
But for everyone involved, we gotta change - That the world can know He is the truth
Somebody wins and somebody loses - It's up to you
Someone's a fool and someone is a fighter
You get what you choose
Not the most artistic lyric or tune I've ever come up with but I think the points are legit and rather timely here in 2026 as they've been since Adam and Eve gave and put more trust in a snake than their Father God.
See, sharing means sharing, the idea of loving your neighbor as yourself looms core to all Jesus calls us to be and do (both) while we walk this earth. He Himself shared His BEST- Jesus, and His love, according to Jesus the -same- love He loves the Son with He offers us. Wow. Ponder that as you consider how different we are -and sadly often far from all Jesus is and was as He walked the earth the first time...
There ARE fights worth having and right at the top of the list I'd say against our own self-centered nature, the devil, the vast world of temptations including many "good" things that can occupy us rather than keeping our focus on the Lord, His Word (Bible) and reaching out with whatever gifts, talents and practical stuff (food, water, clothing, housing, medical care and help, visiting the incarcerated as if it were ourselves locked up... see Matthew 25 on that.
So sharing our time, money, our very lives for the Lord and others is SOOOOOOOOOO counter-cultural even sadly at times, among professing Christians.
What I mean by "someone is a fighter" means it's not automatic, it's often sacrificial and at times deeply so to SHARE rather than hoard and/or simply ignore or maintain a nice distance from people in need. Only as we do so it turns out we are the ones in greatest need -so the whole of the Gospels, Book of Acts and the rest of the New Testament tells us.
Things to consider? I think absolutely YES if we are in reality living to serve God and not merely ourselves.
And as always, thanks for stopping by. -Glenn
