Seek, Pursue Peace

"Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it." Psalm 34.14

Note this is not merely an option but an exhortation, a command even.

So HOW? So many are troubled about so many issues from varied situations, people, elements, politics, illness, loss, trauma, on it goes.

I suggest really meditating on this verse.

DEPART- that's not a vacation from but a "rear-view mirror" GET AWAY from the soil that regularly tempts you to do wrong in God's eyes (see scriptures for details) and flee. Sometimes we put ourselves in the fire and wonder how we got burned!

DO- yep, not only consider doING but actively choosing to think, speak and behave in what God (again, check His Word) considers your calling, righteous acts, behavior and gracious giving to those in need around you. CHOOSING the good.

SEEK- I try to regularly remind folks all the many ways we are called and indeed -able- to seek the Lord! How easily we seem to be distracted in thought, emotions, media and physical pain, no? People drive us crazy... or we need counsel and accountability, don't seek or maintain such relationships with people, on and on. Tools, lots of them- but if we don't use them, if we won't reach up and out to Him and do the practical work hard as that may be for us, then what? Bye-bye peace!

PURSUE- Yep. Exactly. Is peace with God, others, within yourself something you're really and truly pursuing? Take honest inventory on that point please.

The verses before and after this one speak loudly to other aspects of how we can find and be blessed with God's peace.

I wish you, dear reader, the peace of Jesus as you apply God's Word to your daily walk with Him.

As always, thanks for stopping by! -Glenn
