The issue is simple: we all want it, at least some times... and when we
want it, then what?
Well the world is full of weather, flora and fauna and of course,
people. These all seem to conspire at times to steal away our peace, and
sure, quiet.
Then again consider the rain when it isn't part of a tornado, hurricane,
flooding. The sweet scent of moisture in the air, dropping on the
rooftop or pattering the window when we are cozy inside.
Think of the wind when it isn't pushing wildfires and the attendant
smoke and loss. Breezes cool us near a lake, river or ocean, the sweet
scents of Autumn, campfires and more come our way on the wind.
Sometimes people have issues they bring our way and seem to invade our
privacy, sense of well-being or relaxation. Then again there are times
of deep warmth, understanding, care-giving and sharing that seem to only
happen via people whom we openly receive.
Indeed there are the downsides to so many facets of life on this planet
but God has not stopped loving you and me, giving us grace we are often
simply not aware of, noticing, thankful for -and we are sometimes
unwilling to share these with others.
Are there times, maybe even seasons where you or I have by our own
choices and demands blocked, ourselves actually shutting out the peace and
quiet due to our own thoughts, attitudes and unwillingness to flow with
what is rather than screaming and punching the air for what we want? Oh I
think we both know that answer dear reader.
There is little peace and quiet in any war zone be it a literal one or the
one we may be tempted to carry around in our heads. It's not only a matter of the environment we walk in is it?
Jesus is Emmanuel, "God WITH us" and if we follow and walk WITH Him each
moment we may well finally experience: "Peace I leave you. My peace I
give to you -not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your
hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." -John 14.27
"Be still, and know that I am God! I am exalted among the nations; I am
exalted in the earth. The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is
our refuge. Selah" -Psalm 46.10,11
When we cast our cares on Him, we learn in time that He cares for us.
This, my friends, is a peace and quiet no one and nothing else can give!
As always, thanks for stopping by. -Glenn
