Home and Papers

I've been going behind bars for decades. You know one of the major blessings of sharing Jesus, music and encouragement in lock-ups? You get to go home after the gig.

Think on that. Home.

The privilege of being obviously a white guy is in part, not having to carry papers as per the Gestapo days in 30's and 40's Germany where you could be arrested on the spot simply for not having the government-issued papers on you, for looking Jewish, like a gypsy, or other than a classic German.

When people decide to get offended because I make mention of such things I frankly expect it because the old "us and them" ethic ("ethic"?? Check the definition of that word please) is what springs to mind these days even more than usual. "Usual" or "normal" is quite different when one's home is connected to papers we may not have or never carry around with us.

History- I mean national, world and over thousands of years teaches the inhumane way people get treated by the powerful, wealthy, in-control-at-all-costs folks.

Here, and I am certain in the hereafter- there will be a reckoning and God Himself has the Lamb's Book of Life. Names on record? Home? Wisdom, not only faith calls us to think deeply about whether we love our neighbor as our self regardless of their beliefs or anything else because reaping what we sow isn't an uncommon truth. The very command of Jesus Christ is that we love others -regardless-.

May God have mercy and may we who -say- we know Jesus surrender to Him in these matters!

As always, thanks for stopping by. -Glenn
