Humility and Worship

"Let not the rebellious exalt themselves." -Ps. 66.7

Two key points: the context here is rebelling against God, the true and only God. In that sense ALL sinners whether professing followers of Jesus or not- rebel. My second point is that self-exaltation is 99.9 percent a common element of idolatry against the true God, ourselves wanting honor, glory and praise rather than giving it to God.

Note the historical account in Acts 12.20-24

Worship in essence, is giving glory, honor, praise and our loving obedience to the God Who alone IS, Who Himself IS Love and Who calls us to focus on Him as Deity before whom we humble ourselves giving HIM credit for all good in our life.

The most arrogant braggarts are typically the least likely to truly worship the Lord in spirit and truth, rather their focus is on themselves and what they think -they- ought to be exalted for. It's that sense of rebellion against God that political leaders, church leaders, worship leaders and all of us regardless of our faith or lack of it in Him will have to face.

Regardless of what we think about God and ourselves, God is considering us every moment of every day we live on this earth.

Humanly speaking (as Proverbs tells us) "Before honor comes humility" and "pride before a fall".

The rebellious routinely exalt themselves. Mark those who are people of integrity vs. those who's "brand" focuses on giving themselves honor due to God. I tell you here what I tell myself: Beware!
