A Baptism of Clear Seeing...

From A. W. Tozer's "The Root of the Righteous": "We need a baptism of clear seeing. We desperately need seers who can see through the mist – Christian leaders with prophetic vision. Unless they come soon it will be too late for this generation. And if they do come we will no doubt crucify a few of them in the name of our worldly orthodoxy."

Truth straight up is that on occasion I suppose I see clearly but often not, very much as Paul wrote to the Corinthian church to which he listed a stack of blessings where God had enriched them spiritually -and yet in chapter 13 came the statement that they (we all, to be specific) saw "through a glass darkly" -clearly in need of the "eyes to see" Jesus spoke about.

Consider Jesus dealing with sight and the lack thereof re. the religious leaders who demanded -their- laws and -their- traditions when Jesus didn't tow their line in John's Gospel chapter 9. You can read more of his disagreements with them in chapter 10 over His healing of a man born blind. They were so jealous of Him and so determined to stay in power over the people they came to believe and state in public that God the Son/The Son of God had "a demon", that somehow the devil had empowered Jesus to do this incredible miracle!

Jesus calls THEM "blind" as their arrogance and malice moved them to hate Him for speaking and literally being and doing truth as well as bringing a whole lot of healing(s) to the poor and outcasts of society. Nothing much has changed in many parts of the current world -and U.S..

Lord God give us "eyes to see" and"ears to hear" YOU, and then those around us in need. Grant us grace to pay the price to love beyond word - in deed and truth!

And as always, thanks for stopping by. -Glenn
