Self-Written Scripture

All humans have a "cannon of scripture" so to speak. Oh yes we each and all do!

It's inside our own heads, written and at times changed, amended depending on any number of inner and outer matters -as well as voices... changed at our own ultimate discretion.

Individual, then when possible shared choices whether merely by what I've already written above or due to upbringing, trauma, social conditioning, calamities real or imagined and back again to our own summation of all these and personal desire form our "sacred writ".

I find robust and thorough textual criticism (as it's typically referred to) is often applied to The Bible but not so much to our own thoughts, choices and the concept of personal responsibility and judgment upon -our- judgments.

What is Good News to millions is the worst sort of news to millions also. To me, all of this makes plenty of sense when considering Jesus' followers and un/pre-believers.

It also places our thoughts against those attributed to those of God in the Bible.

Again, this doesn't surprise me in the least.

I can cite a long list of reasons people prefer their own personal and sometimes shared "cannon" but in the end, self-as-God seems parked at the top. One day, as Jesus proclaimed, we will see the true God and give account.

May you and I dear reader, be ready -for we are closer to our own accountability to Him than yesterday.

As always, thanks for stopping by. -Glenn
