The Nature of Love?

"The nature of love is to give and bless, to forgive and to share". I've been searching to find validation that this quote is indeed from John Wesley -but regardless, what a profound and in my thinking incredibly solid phrase -simple yet packed with truth!

Why do I say this?

Whether Christ-follower, agnostic or atheist I tell you if this is the nature of love it fully reveals the nature of the Source of genuine love -that is, God Himself.

GOD is continually giving, blessing, forgiving and sharing with His creatures and none other than human beings are the recipients of all good things which come from His heart, will, hands, providence.

Thus, if one truly knows and follows Jesus, if one is maturing in true daily relationship to Father/Son/Spirit, are these 4 not evident in their (our) lives, the fruit of being made, renewed in our heavenly Father's image?

"God is love" writes John. So the nature of love is... give, bless, forgive, share... YES, both from the Word of God and the experience of people whether or not they are aware of the true Source!

Frankly, these four exact things may on occasion manifest in people who don't seek, believe or walk with the Lord... but the same (or opposites of each of them!) may be true for many who claim to know Jesus...

My fellow believer, are these four marks of a child of God blooming regularly out of your life, the nature of our Lord? Are these each and all not the norm, the regular fruit of God-and-others focused relationship with Him as they were and are in Jesus Himself?

Important things to consider? I believe so!
