Simplicity -and- Wisdom

An arrogant/insecure person (usually hardcore both at the same time) often complicates their own life and that of those around them for lack of wisdom and knowledge. Simple thing to say. Look, I've been that person at times -and so have most reading this I suppose.
Wisdom in itself isn't always simple and to get there one must be open to learning, even aware learning is essential for knowledge and the wisdom which is about knowing how to apply the knowledge. Still with me here?
One must be humble enough to realize when they are "over our head" on an issue.
Okay, so then where does simplicity come from?
In part -note part... setting aside truly, genuinely irrelevant ways and means. Separating what's core and really needed, even essential versus what all too often the culture we're comfortable in, their pundits, hawkers and adverts tell us we "MUST HAVE" "or else"!
Have you ever realized how often what's called "impulse buying" has happened in your life?
I look back on purchasing a cool shirt that I never wore. I mean not even one time did I put it on, it sat on a hanger until I gave it away.
"Oh, THAT would be COOL" items and those selling 'em scream for us to toss knowledge, wisdom and "Selah" (Book of Psalms word most scholars believe means "pause and think about what you just heard/sang/prayed"). To take a moment to pause, pray, really consider is something a foolish person rarely does. They just act out.
How many church leaders, national, even international leaders have done damage to how many millions of lives out of fear of losing power, losing face, negatively affecting -their- "bottom line" throughout history? How many have suffered in marriage and family where pride/insecurity was the key culprit in ignorant, abusive, dominating people who brought ever more pain and chaos rather than love, grace, understanding and compassion into the relationships?
To simply ask truly knowledgeable, wise, experienced people for input on things they have little to none understanding about is just not simple enough for them. And thus the carnage of history among humans!
Humility, being quiet, studying, seeking... may seem too much effort so we go on and often in retrospect see the sad, at times horrific results of our choice to ignore the sound judgment we might have learned and applied.
God have mercy! And thank Him, He does and thus teaches us to do the same as we learn and grow. If not, shudder at the results.
