SHOCK?! Seeking Awe?

Just read another article on the life of a musician whose stage shows, etc., are all about shock to "inspire, cause people to think" sort of thing.
Nothing new under the sun. Shock has been seen as valuable for centuries and seems to only grow like a mud-ball rolling down the mountain toward the masses it often is.
Well, I don't know if this or that is art or merely about making money, stirring buzz and simply unfettered expression re. other's approach to music-making and performance. Who am I to judge, really, as I don't know anyone's actual reasons for self-expression... and yet:
SELF expression indeed is not some sort of automatic gift, blessing, wonderful offering for people -and that is a core matter between each of us on whatever "stage" where others are affected by what we bring to an audience, congregation and world via public modes of delivery.
The gut-issue is whether or not in the spiritual sense, a human creator is themselves delivered (as in truly redeemed by Jesus) or merely primarily about -self-. Consequences exist.
Believe me, I have come before God with my own motivations often because I'm convinced He exists, loves and deeply cares about our influence and the sometimes larger-than-life projections people either seem to get from us or themselves place on us as they observe, watch, listen, read/hear interviews and etc.. It's about the personal responsibility of each one of us to check our own hearts and motives prior to simply expressing whatever it is we think or sometimes merely feel we just -have- to express.
There is an ultimate shock coming our way in His timing. We will truly and for deep reasons be in awe in that encounter!
Things to consider prior before we will give account before God? I fully believe so.
And as always, thanks for stopping by. -Glenn
