Power Addiction Realities

What do you have when an out-of-control person has near-total control of people and resources? An addict. Power addiction. And as the historic, true adage goes, "Absolute power corrupts absolutely".
Control freaks are at core addicts though often that is not a phrase considered.
Such an individual only yields if it is in their interest and in no way affects their "fix", that of ultimate authority. That, above all else must be avoided -much like a cocaine, heroin or fentanyl addict finally obsesses most about their drug over and beyond anyone and anything. It's them and their drug against the world, versus sanity, moderation or true balance in life and decision-making.
When God came to earth as man- fully God and fully a human male- He did not grasp what He, perfect, sinless, all-knowing and the King of Kings had every right to grasp but instead humbled Himself even to the point of death.
One accurate way to consider Jesus' crucifixion is in light of religious leaders who even Pilate knew had delivered Him to them to murder due to their own jealousy and addiction to power.
Jesus, "meek and humble of heart" also said "the Son of man did not come to be served but to serve". The contrast of His attitude to those demanding His death is as wide and sick as it is stark.
What of Judas? What of those who enable an addict for their own profit? What when "all shall stand before the judgment seat of God and give account"? In that moment no one will claim love had anything to do with the relationship or the addiction.
We are not on earth for self-worship or "success" as per the general world's view of accomplishment.
I leave you with something I wrote and our band performed many decades ago.

As always, thanks for stopping by. -Glenn
