Power Addiction

Throughout human history, Bible, the churches, business, politics, you-name-it there have always been addicts. Yes, drug, booze, sex, money addicts but also (and often connected with these and other areas) a core, driving, "run-'em down-run-'em over" addiction to power.

I'm not talking about power and authority to love, heal, lift up, encourage -but to rob, kill, destroy and all of the latter with the over-riding determination and passion to gain, maintain and as deeply and long as possible sustain and enlarge their power and control over... well, anyone, everyone, life itself to the degree they can influence and affect things toward that end.

Of course, end it shall!

The God Who's "eyes are in every place beholding the evil and the good", "before Whom all things are laid bare", the true God Who misses nothing and knows all "the thoughts and intents of the heart" and every actual motivation in each of our lives is THE. ALL-POWERFUL God Who shall have "no other gods" before Him for there is no other.

I cannot imagine more of a shock than for those who consider themselves above and beyond the reach of judgement stripped of all power and being brought before the Lord God in the day of judgement having to account for their sins -and that of this brutal addiction.

Scoff if you or they will (and do), but no one has the power to stop Almighty God Who will have the last say even if we ignore Him, His Word and His views and values regarding our character and treatment of one another in this life -in particular "the least of these" according to Jesus (Matthew 25).

Power addiction cancels out mercy, one of the very things He commands us to give others. This is in part why such will be judged in that (for many) terrible day!

May we choose deliverance from all addictions in light of the Love and Power of Jesus Christ and our Triune God!

As always, thanks for stopping by. -Glenn

Haven't we all felt and been on various levels treated like aliens (illegal, legal) and don't a massive amount of people do the same to Jesus? Yes. Denying Him, "othering" Him. He knows how it feels,

Isolation

Today I'm writing to a specific narrow group of people- those who have run people off, felt or perhaps truly have been burned by others, seen their sins as "more important" than their own, angry, fear

Faith in the Unfaithful?

How difficult to have faith in an unfaithful person! Some judge God and you and I as not worthy of respect as neither always seems to provide reasons to trust. We simply don't always get what we want
