One for the Ages!

You may have heard that phrase used for a sporting contest that "went down to the wire", perhaps a team way down in the scoreline making a comeback and winning.

Today I'm using the phrase to talk about you. Yep- you! I'm about to do it via talking about myself and hope you can read the principles into your own life...

Each of us is "one for the ages"!

See, you and I are aging. I mean, you might be 16, 26 or 66 but the reality is that no matter how old you are or how long you live on this earth you're aging second-by-second, year-by-year and so on.

I've mentioned publicly many times that I decided several years ago to "leave it all on the field" and by that I mean whatever I can write, record, put up in my blogs and socials online, speak, etc., to benefit someone regardless of how many or how few, that's what I'm going to do with my time. For me it's ALL about God's calling and gifting in my life for other's benefit.

Oh I take breaks, every now and then get at least part of a day off, sometimes more -like a recent camping trip with my wife and part of my family, but in the end I don't want to withhold anything that might bless someone who hears, reads or meets me.

I want to give all I can give to uplift, maybe even educate folks a little, to challenge depth and thinking for common folks. I don't consider myself a great -anything- and certainly not so as a writer but by God's grace and by His Spirit (at least His Spirit sometimes!!) I seek to give, build up and when needed in the best, most positive sense tear down -bringing truth to walls, hard hearts, thick and self-focused heads that people might be moved to Jesus, to the Word of God (Bible) and to eternal life beginning NOW on this earth by walking with the Lord in daily relationship and learning to actually love those they'd rather never go near...

Yes. Right there.

So- my sight, hearing, hair and 100 percent "free-of-aches-and-pains" has slowly moved on (as in "decreased") :) An increasing number of family and friends have passed on. The years begin to show up in these and other ways for any of us who continue to live on the planet until one day God calls us home -or to certain judgment. That's the reality of things whether or not we have faith.

For me- what a full-on blessing to be as healthy as I am, the many doors of communication and friends who help me do it all, recordings, tours, jail and prison visits and more are in truth a gift to -me-! And yet and still, to have anything of any value to bring others is what it's been and is about even in the aging process. Gifts from Him are the best of what any of us has to share with others.

May you give thanks to Him and give out of the store of whatever God has given you!!! Refuse to condemn or belittle yourself for some perceived "lack" and know if you give the little you have God will certainly link you with needy folks- they are EVERYWHERE so give what you can however you can to bless others.

In living such a life you'll find aging is more a matter of maturing, not merely numbers, stagnating and dying, nor wasting time by self-focus, self-pity and bitterness which sadly, too many older folks slag into. Move in HIS direction and by HIS direction best you understand it and watch what the Lord of your life does with the few "loaves and fishes" you surrender to Him!

And as always, thanks for stopping by! -Glenn
