Moving Forward

If you've spent any time reading my blogs and other musing via social media and lyricism you'll likely know I'm about change and growth. I don't live in the past though I have both horrid and very fond memories of all I've experienced.
"The West Wing" series brought to the screen an American president who was always saying "What's next?" to his staff. That's quite like myself. I normally have 4 or 5 projects in mind, mostly creative -plus the everyday "To Do" list and my wife, family, friends in ministry here in Chicago routinely add more. If I'm not careful I can get lost moving from one job to another and lose focus on Father/Son/Spirit, miss His nudging call to serve someone in a more overt spiritual way, but Paul indeed wrote "Give yourselves to humble tasks" also translated as "associate with the lowly" so either way, that's all the heart-thread right through an authentic Christ-following life.
A chafing and at times frustrating fact is too many who profess saving faith in Jesus don't focus on Him and others. It's always a matter of focus, seeking, reaching up and out- up for His voice/leading/help from the Spirit, and out towards others to do what we can that their needs be met, not only our own.
But the underlying matter is growth, not stagnancy, not merely being stuck in a chair or bed and removing ourselves from service to God and people! FORWARD, not backward or "stuck in park" with the engine shut off.
Even bed-ridden people can interceed in prayer for individuals as well as masses of needy, tormented, war-ravaged people and nations. If you cannot speak you can think to God for "the Spirit searches" and "knows the thoughts" of our heart!
You can connect with God in prayer if all you've left is thought without sight, deafness to all sound, etc.. He has given us means to think and interact with Him and others in the "doing" of prayer. So you see, there is growth and forward -movement- for anyone breathing with any sense of inner if not outer consciousness!
Planting ourselves in God and His calling/s never means doing nothing, seeing/hearing/caring little about His desires and those He calls us to serve! It's about being active, led and empowered by His Spirit to engage with Him serving those in need in a wide range of ways. Prayer is certainly one of them -but as we are enabled we must put boots on the ground and act (think Book of Acts!).
I believe such is a life well lived for Jesus Christ!
And as always, thanks for stopping by. -Glenn
