Long, Loud or Truth?

It's not who shouts the longest, the loudest, the most intensely or with the deepest (on their part) personal conviction -it is what GOD HIMSELF says is right, sound, correct, indeed Truth itself.

The problem now and always in a fallen world bent on self fulfillment is that there is the temptation to buy (often literally) into the lie/s or half-truths or myths created by the one Jesus called "the father of lies" and whatever it is we of "itching ears" (as Paul writes) WANT to believe.

Don't each and all of us want affirmation of X, Y, Z, whatever? Don't we so often run from the daily crosses God Himself calls us to pick up and carry? When have Jesus' words about self-denial, cross-bearing and closely -following- Him ever been really embraced in pop culture, elitist writings, neighborhood kiss-up to politicians or the bulk of the so-called human (often so inhumane) race? Come on now, let's face the reality of facts even in our own lives as professing Christ-followers!

Sadly, relationship to Him takes a back seat and often with a kind of "no room at the inn" we offer Him the leftovers instead of the "first fruits", we save "the best for us" and wonder why we are not fulfilled.

Eyes off of self is a daily, even moment-by-moment challenge as God calls us to love Him supremely, our neighbor as ourselves, yes, even to actually love our enemies! The longer I live, the closer I walk with my God, Lord, Savior, King, Shepard, Best Friend, the eternal God Who is God alone the deeper I'm convinced the worst issue in life isn't the devil or demons real as they are (see Jesus' own words and interactions with same in the Gospels) but rather with my -self- and those desires that rise like an oil slick in an ocean spill.

Thank God repentance (change of heart, mind, direction) is offered, given us by God that we may "return to Him" and be saved/healed/delivered! Thank God Almighty He has the desire to work HIS Spirit and attitudes in our life that the Father be honored, glorified by the grace of His love and truth given us in Jesus! Yet... it must be applied, sought after, not merely believed in a benign way.

How often we run off into "rabbit trails" distracted by things we think we will find satisfaction in -when God alone is the source of all true, eternal satisfaction, nothing and nobody else!

Jesus IS (as He said- John 14.6) "THE Way, TRUTH, Life". Liars and impostors have always been and will be until He folds the world up like a scroll.

Meanwhile, let's not ourselves -be- impostors, seeking self over Him and His will and revealed truth via His Word (Bible).

And as always, thanks for stopping by! -Glenn

Intent.

Over the past several years I have come to deeply love the word "intentional" and the core of it- "intent". It causes me to consider "What does God Himself intend for us? What is his intent toward me?

Fight The Good Fight?

Paul, writing to Timothy in 2 Tim. 4 mentions this fight -and in context he's clearly speaking of faith, not human power as such. Then again we must recognize Rome would -not- allow opposition without
