Life and Peace!?

In Romans 8.6 Paul writes "To set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace."

While not denying nor pretending struggle, pain, loss and dashed expectations in our lives are not real and stressful this is one of the truisms we can embrace even as we are embraced REGARDLESS. Yes! And Alleluia! To love God with all our mind is part of Jesus' command and blessing -and "setting our minds" the "how" of  Paul's "peace that surpasses understanding".

It is understandable that there is effort involved to his "take every thought captive to obey

Christ". It is also reality that many who discard or are otherwise indifferent to all this reap what Paul quite clearly says we sow.

When I see the human race's treatment of one another across the centuries I find a loving, kind, gracious faith and a twisted, power-grasping, get-all-the-sarx-you-can-here-and-now even among professing believers -especially when they refuse to follow, to obey Christ in love. It then becomes "all about -me-". So much for the peace of God in such a life...

Things worth considering?

I wish you His peace! As always, thanks for stopping by. -Glenn
