How -Cool- is This? :)

“Cast your burden upon the LORD and He will sustain you; He will never allow the righteous to be shaken.” Psalm 55.22

I love that the Hebrew word for “sustain” is kul (pronounced “cool”)!

Quick and rather obvious points-

We don’t always experience trials as cool… let’s face it!

We often hang on to our burden on several levels, mentally, emotionally brooding on the thing to the extent we really don’t cast it ONTO the LORD.

If and as we do we’ll find Him faithful to carry us through the matter. Over and over He proved Himself to the children of Israel, the disciples of Jesus and indeed, this writer as well as those of you now reading -whether you believe and know it or not.

Then comes the thought of not being shaken, moved in the sense of being defeated. It’s clear believers do not always get what we want from our Father and it is also reality that He knows best, sees the whole picture and desires most of all that we would keep our eyes on Him regardless of the burden we carry. Whatever it is (or they are) it WILL pass.

As for righteousness, that comes from Jesus alone and nothing we earn as such. If gaining grace from God was about earning it would no longer be UNearned favor which is the very definition of the term!

So it is in God’s righteousness we must walk with eyes fixed on Him and His faithfulness to be with us, carry us through, cause us to become even more firm in our faith, not merely to get us quickly out of the difficulties of life. He IS faithful and as we trust and focus on Him we can discover a peace that goes beyond our ability to understand it or somehow conjure up by ourselves.

This is yet another wonderful lyric from a Psalm written and sung by people of God who believed it because they experienced it in relationship with the LORD!
