"GOOD" Friday?

My guess is that many people only think of any Friday as well as the one quickly upon us as "good" merely because it may be the end of their work week with a couple days off coming. Maybe it's the anticipation for a late-night or two of hanging with friends, partying or family time.

Some consider anything to do with church or the "church calendar", the annual celebrations such as Christmas, Easter and of course Good Friday as irrelevant to their lives. In one sense even if full-on atheists or agnostics, they may be quite right -and I say that with great sadness.

The Bible indeed clearly teaches Jesus died once "for all" (check out the Book of Hebrews and elsewhere in scripture) but that at the same time not all know or walk with Him in saving faith. To them, and too many His death on the cross and subsequent resurrection is of no significance or perhaps anything more that myth and out-dated beliefs by their way of thinking.

When you come out of what I did (addiction and live however you wish regardless of how many people are negatively affected) prior to surrendering to the risen Christ, I thought much the same. Holidays were an excuse to party and nothing much else.

Seeking freedom from the mess I'd made of my life brought me closer to realizing the obvious: "I'm not God and never will be... and I can't be at peace or know freedom living this train-wreck of a life I've been dedicated to!" There aren't enough words to tell you how important, actually death-defying it was for those lights to go on inside of me -and they surely did.

Good Friday as a very new follower of Jesus took on an incredible, deep, even eternal meaning for me and still does. The pain and suffering, the complete rejection Jesus experienced -for you and me dear reader, yes- to the point of pouring out His blood "for the remission of sins" continues to deeply affect my thoughts, words, writing, lyrics, behavior, decisions and the trajection of my life now and for eternity.

I wish nothing more for you than open eyes and heart to the King stooping so low -yet without sin! For us. To bring us to awareness of Father God's incredible love and the Holy Spirit's embrace and filling.

IF... you will believe and in receiving His love and forgiveness, seek Him and learn to walk with Him in faith. IF.

That horrible, sick Friday changed my Fridays forever, and Good Friday is the best only due to what happened, why He did it, and then came a Sunday unlike all others!!

As always, thanks for stopping by. -Glenn
