For the Default (thus faulted) Fighter

Many years ago as a new believer in Jesus I recognized that it wasn't a game, always easy or even what I wanted -to change and become more like the One I called my Lord. Thank God as we surrender to the Spirit in our choices we can and do change. The possibility is always there for us!

This was one part, one fruit of the Spirit I realized early on I was VERY short in - Paul speaking the Word of God to we who profess to follow Jesus Christ:

(Philippians 4.5) "Let your gentle spirit be known to all men. The Lord is near". -NASB

"Let your gentle spirit [your graciousness, unselfishness, mercy, tolerance, and patience] be known to all people. The Lord is near." -AMP

Yeah, gentleness wasn't something I manifested simply, easily or mostly ever!

Being a natural fighter means being in need of unnatural graces from God, a genuine respect for Him and His Word, and yes, patience and respect for ALL people (you can also find that phrase in a letter of Paul!).

If truly, solidly planted in relationship with the Lord, the rich soil of God's Word and walking in the light as He is in the light (1 John 1) the Spirit grows that fruit in us.

Peace and serenity within makes for peace and serenity toward people.

It's not a false act as in role-playing for others, but believers with real integrity seeking spiritual growth in Christ target old nature, sin in them(our)selves and thus begins fruit-bearing that can only come from the Most Gentle of All Himself!

Things to consider on the path of genuine discipleship in Jesus.

And as always, thanks for stopping by! -Glenn

Scripture: Opinion or Fact?
