Flesh and Spirit

That is, physical body and it's attributes as well as God the Holy Spirit and/or our own spirit... so consider this from Jesus Himself:

"What is born of the flesh is flesh, and what is born of the Spirit is spirit." -John 3.6

This is a deep thing to consider when you realize only that which is spirit is eternal -no flesh of any sort is -nor can it be!

The idea spiritual matters don't mean anything or that we simply must focus 100 percent on our natural bodies and feelings which we all KNOW are going bye-bye at some point in time is just wrong and miss-guided according to John's quote from Jesus here.

Of course the entire context is the Lord clarifying the what and how of eternal LIFE... not only good but essential due to the fact of death as a certainty for all of us.

What we sow to our natural bodies is important indeed, Paul tells us bodily exercise is good and useful but he goes on to point out spiritual life is good for us now and in the life to come after these bodies of ours are no more. He further talks about we who continue with God now and as saints of God here and hereafter receiving -new- bodies.

Something to think about as we are tempted to deny or discard spiritual planting and nurture, care in matters of Spirit, spirit and life eternal. We will be with or without Him infinitely longer (that's an understatement!) than on earth.

And as always, thanks for stopping by. -Glenn
