Feeling Irrelevant?

Everyone has feels/felt that way from time to time, or in certain areas of work, socially or in various situations. It's usually a momentary feeling and living off of one's feelings is a trap and very often a sort of dead-end culdesac in which if one stays, either we simply spin round and round or even give up and just park. Doing so accomplishes nothing but personal and sometimes shared heartache.
The obviously negative self-talk of worthlessness isn't true, will never be reality but in one's own mind -and admittedly at times the judgment of others. God does NOT think of you or I that way nor did Jesus Who came, suffered, died and rose with our intrinsic worth and great value in His mind and purposes!
When is love, forgiveness, grace and peacemaking irrelevant? All of us have the possibility of being a living conduit for God's compassion, understanding and each of these. Since when does someone or a group of them have the power to "write you off" as without reason or relevance and not lose the contribution of love, kindness and as you mature, stability in these virtues -or any of the fruit of the Spirit God produces in the life of a true follower of Jesus Christ?
If love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness or self-control are ever not needed or unwanted, what is that to you? The others have the problem and it's their loss to be without you, not the other way around.
You may not be the person for a particular job but that doesn't mean you're truly without relevance. By the way, the very term "relevant" means "closely connected or appropriate to what is being done or considered". If you need a mechanic to fix your car I'd be irrelevant in that sense. If you need an excellent cook you'd appreciate the relevance of my wife!
Sometimes another's need is a listening ear, at other moments they may seek advice. No doubt we can render ourselves irrelevant in a specific situation by being silent when we should speak or talking when we should listen, ponder, pray inwardly for someone.
So in that narrow sense relevance is a rather moving target. Living in despair because you "seem to always mess up" is common to all and I mean ALL flawed, imperfect and at times sinful human beings! It's for us Jesus came and will return!
Lastly- competition with others for acceptance or some kind of special treatment or applause isn't a matter of your true worth or value but sometimes insecurity or desire to be fulfilled by what other might give you. The Lord tells us "give", "serve", "love one another as I have loved you". Wow. He suffered for others out of love and care. He was at once accepted and believed while others called Him a liar and considered Him without relevance then and to this very day! How can we expect to fare better than the perfect God-in-flesh Christ?!
Only God Himself can fulfill your deepest need and desires -yes, even for recognition and acceptance and that's FAR more important than fawning people who leap for joy at all you can say and accomplish!
Things to consider along the journey? I believe quite relevant :)
And as always, thanks for stopping by. -Glenn
