Faith in ME?!

Look, I'm not writing out of un-confessed sin here, no conviction of such in my life in this moment, rather seeking to call us all out to a truth so liberating, so deeply transformational that... well, read on.

I've often stated faith in Jesus isn't about faith in me, in myself- but IN HIM! "Faith in God's faithfulness" is my common phrase. Why? For one thing, no human being can match it nor is worthy of such trust.

You don't need the Spirit's discernment, great wisdom or even a close, daily relationship with me to find failures, excesses, weakness or even -sin- in my life. I suggest it's the same for all reading this, but here's the REAL DEAL: either Jesus died and rose with you in His mind and God's Own reasoning and plan for our forgiveness or He did not. Either the grace (un-merited favor, mercy and compassion of God simply because He made us and loves us) exists or it does not.

Now let's be clear- "For God COMMANDS ALL PEOPLE EVERYWHERE TO REPENT and believe the Good News". That's laced in Jesus' Own messages in the four Gospels as well as the writers of the New Testament along w. much of the Old Testament writers. Yet to re-think, to turn around, to seek HIM and to grow in ever-greater love for God and our neighbor- loving God with "all" our heart, mind, soul and might isn't optional is it?

Yet and still, either Jesus earned (thus pouring out grace of His blood for our forgiveness and acceptance by the Father) our pardon and brought "everlasting life" out of the Father's love (John 3.16, 17 state this powerfully!) or He did not.

What genuine Christ-followers believe isn't about literally flawless perfection in any of us this side of coming before Him in the end, rather it's in GOD'S OWN FAITHFULNESS to His Own Word and to "whosoever will, let them come". THIS is the Best News ever -unless you choose to blow Him and it off as mere mythology, wishful thinking and mystic doodling of zero consequence to you.

"Whosoever won't" misses the point- and the reality of the Author of love Who Himself IS Love.

That, my friends, equals faith in self, not God, and thus is not saving faith. None of us are any less than an infinity of galaxies away from somehow being our own savior!!! We are flatly insufficient.

Seek and trust His mercy, turn away from self-worship to follow the Risen Christ!

And as always, thanks for stopping by. -Glenn
