Evil Isn't Lazy

If Bible readers know how to use a concordance one can easily find a number of important verses of God's Word that speak to the negatives, the wrong, the not-God's-intent regarding sloth and laziness. My friend Dan First recently wrote a book on the matter citing loads of scripture on this and also the many benefits via the godly attribute of hard work as valued by the Lord. Yes!

I have long noticed how much blood, sweat and tears people seem to pour out for themselves while passing on near-daily opportunities to serve others as a core motive in their life. Human nature (according to scripture) is not good until God Almighty is truly reverenced over the NOT almighty human.

It is not rare that truly committed over-the-top monied and powerful people of the world are hard at work. The sad reality for many of them is a driving desire for ever-more money and power. Such people put a premium on conquest and one-upping in personal, business and other areas of life. They're convinced they've earned it though in many cases it was inherited or acquired via bullying, manipulation, severe demands on others and as such the term "evil" and others including "corruption", "graft" and "grift" often accurately apply.

If Jesus is our true example we must recognize His love in pouring His Own blood, sweat and tears, indeed His very life on the cross. He poured these out not for Himself but for us! This was and is the deep motive of His heart: how very unlike us all too often!

Easter is not where most of us live -but for those who seek to please God, serving others rather than personal gain is the core issue in genuine Christ-likeness and Christian maturity.

God help me, help us to live in Jesus' love and commandments, not mere gain-seeking to our own ends -and ultimate end.

As always, thanks for stopping by. -Glenn
