"Even if..."

This summer's Audio Feed Festival held a number of sweet surprises and one was a gift to both my wife and I- two neck pieces created by a sweet Australian-born sis. Here is the one Wendi had made for me:

The phrase is all about commitment to the true and only God, not to gold, to images, to worship of other people or things, not to power, control or "brand" regardless. It's from 3 brave followers of the LORD in response to a pagan ruler who was eventually humbled in large part due to God's merciful deliverance.

Death was the edict for anyone who would not bow to this ruler and his idol/s. Knowing full well what may happen to them, part of their reply was saying they sought God's protection and salvation. It was also quite a protest and declaration of their faith and utter dependence of Him and -no other would they worship but the true God:

"But even if he does not rescue us, we want you as king to know that we will not serve your gods or worship the gold statue you set up.” -Daniel 3.18

There are times professing followers of Jesus have to take a stand that may cost them dearly, perhaps even their own life. May you and I have the same heart and love for the LORD they did -"even if".
