Errrr... God's Own Nature?

From time to time as I study God's Word I remember to look for HIS attributes, His virtues embeded in the text -and it's not always a matter of literal exegesis and yet brings me to worship Him in a deeper sense of Spirit and truth, to give Him glory for all He is and of course, thus, does for us :) Here's one I wrote out and placed on my office wall:

(Paul in Phil. 4.8, my bold for emphasis) "Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things."

Consider for a moment -beyond "whatever" in terms of our own personal thoughts. What about God Himself?!

HE IS true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent, worthy of praise ALWAYS and FOREVER. Paul by the Spirit is calling all of we who follow Jesus Christ to think on such virtues and to reflect on them not just mentally but in terms of Who God is and thus who we as His children must therefore be and shall indeed be in the Day of Christ!

To THINK about such things is at very core, to think about our heavenly Father, our Lord and Savior, the very Spirit Who dwells within us and we in Him.

All this is NOT about disregarding injustices, treatment of the poor, widows, orphans, the exploitation of minority people (either by race, economics or both) but is an essential balance to those who forget God in the process of DOING justice and loving mercy. Note, the last part of Micah 6.8 accents walking "humbly with our God".

GLORY to GOD for Who. He. IS. and that He is re-making us, renewing us in His image!!
