There is a worship song that includes the phrase "You are the God of all creation Lord we bless you".

But what happens when in our limited knowledge, wisdom and grasp of Who God IS ("I AM") and in view of Father/Son/Spirit? What sort of god do we create?

When the searching travelers following the star found Jesus with His earthly parents he was a young boy, not a babe in a manger. They bowed down and worshiped Him -as He was/is-.

The thought strikes me we sometimes get creative about Who we believe Him to be, how -we- expect Him to act, what -we- expect Him to do... or frankly, worse, expect Him to be Who and what WE determine He ought to be.

I've known and now know many people who love the Lord and yet struggle to face up to these things from Genesis to Revelation. The biblical record to them is a stumbling block to their own creative design of the God Who IS versus the god they want, the god they wish He were.

Think on that.

The serpent's temptation of Eve and Adam was ultimately "Did GOD say?!!" and the fallen angel did and now does what he thinks might work to de-throne the Eternal King...

Creating God in. our. own. image. is the exact opposite of discovering Him as He truly is -and He reveals Himself in surprising and at times, startling, even by our judgment "severe", "distasteful" ways.

Jesus spoke to this again and again in His debates with the Jewish leaders during His earthly ministry who routinely rejected Him, who played with the very image and nature of God as though -they- had "the better and correct" 'handle' of Who He was, what He would do and how He'd do it. Nada. Bad religion. False god, idol of one's own making.

Lord deliver us from making the same mistake!!

And as always, thanks for stopping by. -Glenn
