Creative? Of Course!

Capitalist$ 'eh? Sweatshops, consumerism, materialism, addiction to more and more and... but wait- what about yard/garage sales? What about re-using, recycled stuff, clothes, on and on?

I admit it's a perk of large cities like Chicago where we live but not not only here! Yesterday Wendi and I spent 3 plus hours parking, walking (good exercise) and checking out as well as with very little cash, purchasing some amazingly cool stuff. Some of it preps for Christmas gifting, some getting use immediately by ourselves and family. Dirt cheap. And of course a pair of 150 dollar shoes for 3 bucks in great condition doesn't hurt either!

Last time out I got the best tablet (computer) I've ever had for 10 bucks. Amazing.

Free Little Libraries where you can leave books and cds, dvds for others and take what you wish are all over our city. In fact 3 blocks from our house is a large non-profit FREE bookstore with a serious load of great titles that change every few days where we drop off books and bring new (to us) titles home with us. They do truly great work via their several stores and their mission is shipping loads of books to poor, under-served folks in various African nations to start libraries where there are few or none... reading and education is a large part of how libraries bless communities.

Got an old acoustic or electric guitar that can't hardly be tuned because the neck is about beyond repair (bowed) and the notes aren't true much past the 5th fret? Crank up the bridge higher, tune it to an open E chord and use it as a slide guitar!

The other day I found a Rocket Book near the dumpster -no bed bugs, perfect condition, no pages missing. It has features I won't use but with the right pens (just got 3 for 5 dollars) I can write for example, what you see here in the pic, take a photo and post. Then you lightly wet a microfiber cloth (we have a lot of 'em) and erase using the specially treated paper over and over. Nice.

Being creative isn't just for art in it's various modes and forms, it's awareness, thinking "outside" a project from various and sometimes unorthodox angles, how to re-use or make use of items in a fresh and what may be judged by some- a "crazy" way. Get over being laughed at and think outside the box of spending ever more money and being part of the pollution and environmental havoc we so easily create.

God calls us to stewardship and creative imagination not mere spend-spend-spend-trash.

Doing so gives us more to possibly share with those in need- and Jesus both taught and demonstrated such :) But wait- there's MORE:
