Checking the Temperature

When I get up each morning it's my norm to get dressed and do the usual grooming stuff (doesn't take long for a guy like me) and after taking any vitamins and meds. check the temp and daily forecast.
It's also my typical to look over a couple Bible verses for the day and one of several devotionals I'll do that day.
I wonder how many of us regularly, maybe even daily check our spiritual temperature? Check in with God in prayer before we get into other tasks, buzz off into work or school, etc.?
I wonder what individual and hey, the local and larger church, professing Christians would love like, act like, would influence one another and the wider world if we checked our temp each day?
I don't mean never-ending mirror-staring but a regular daily check.
Ever get surprised at a doctor's office after an exam? What might have been prevented totally or in part had we done so earlier on -or as a regular thing we did?
The things that prevent us from looking up and out are sometimes the things we've not faced within.
In face as I wrote many years ago in "The Struggle", "I'll be ready to face myself when I face You" still holds true for me -but not taking personal inventory in the light -and I mean light of God's Word- often brings weight and pain unlike Jesus' comment "My yoke is easy and My burden is light". Yeah, two different meanings to that word "light" there but I think you get my drift.
May Jesus bless your morning, your day and your life no matter the temp. Just don't ignore checking. Dress for the day, not the fashion.
And as always, thanks for stopping by! -Glenn
