Aging Grace

Several decades ago I joked with a couple friends "I think we'll all end up being pretty cool old guys!" Well, largely I think by God's grace we for the most part -can- be.

IF we eat right, exercise, try to get decent sleep -at least when possible. IF we seek God in prayer and His Word (Bible) as well as have at least one solid accountability partner, a truly wise mentor or two as examples, and truly work to apply Jesus's teachings daily, well, old can be a parting gift.

On this earth nobody but Jesus lived literally sinlessly so over the years I like all, have regrets. Should have done or not done X, Y, Z and so forth. Moments I should've kept silent and others I should have spoken out. Choices made in wisdom or ignorance, on it goes, no? I see no way around all that.

Further, ageism is an issue you will face if you live long enough, that being considered irrelevant to some in the younger gens. HA, in the late 60's we said nobody should trust anyone over 30. The Who sang "Hope I die before I get old" and in my and many cases, drugs and other excess nearly caused that to happen.

So here I am with a few aches and pains, do a light workout daily, eat low-carb/keto, try to get enough sleep and on rare occasions actually take an hour or 90 minute nap when possible.

I'm as busy as ever between family, local and much wider interaction with people, music, song writing and recording, web-based stuff, jail and prison chaplain visits, doing shows as a musician and of course ongoing daily study in a wide and wider range of issues including history and current events.

Perhaps for myself, the deepest issue is trusting in God's love and grace for me, the incredible gift of my wife, family and friends and the sense of His guidance, His hand in my life and times right through the years.

Without all this grace and EACH of the above a gift to me I'd likely not be close as I am to peace in my mind, heart and life.

The Prince of Peace has indeed brought salvation to "whosoever will" and that saving became real and continues to be so in my daily life.

Lord willing you too will reach old age. May you do so in relationship to Him. Eternity is in His hands, so regardless of how many days you get on this planet- may you draw close and closer to the One Who never changes in His love for us!

Dear reader, I wish you nothing less.

And as always, thanks for stopping by. -Glenn
