Acquiring MORE

I make things- with prayers, words, my voice, musical instruments, wood and strings, screws and glue, paper, all sorts of things and I do it often and in many ways with lots of tools and of course, imagination.
One must have room to make these things. Artfulness needfully calls for spaces -in the heart, mind, soul and spirit as well as in some cases actual physical room, a place, places to build, to create.
Having established the truth of this the Holy Spirit yet calls me to make time, space and room for God. It is THE MOST IMPORTANT place in heart, mind, soul and spirit, taking time and making room for Father/Son/Spirit.
Why? Well, the world isn't large enough for all the thought, books, podcasts, videos, songs and myriad art forms to answer that question but I'll mention only one here and now: more is never enough and we can never get enough of God.
Who He is, His depth of character, knowledge, wisdom, and indeed compassion and love for us is simply too unfathomable for those of us on this earth to apprehend and yet we miss Him and these by speeding past to "other things" and other people to find them.
In the practical, you and I dear reader need to acquire less stuff and seek to acquire more of God! "A person's life does no was consist in the abundance of things they possess" said Jesus.
Stewardship of what we have rather than classic, capitalistic "Buy MORE, get MORE, you'll be HAPPIER and more FULFILLED" is too obviously sweet treats that condition and manipulate us to miss the meal, the healthy, the most nurturing.
Interestingly Jesus directly proclaimed Himself to be "the bread of life" and that those who truly believe in Him "will never hunger or thirst". He was talking about spirit and soul, not as an add-person trying to sell us what we don't need and cannot possibly meet our deepest need.
Alas, far too many live life "without hope and without God in the world". Even professing Christians so often get caught in consumerism which indeed consumes and further litters and degrades the planet to our and our grandchildren's peril.
I have found satisfaction most and in the greatest depth due to my focused relationship with my Lord and Savior. Truly! God's Word daily, continual prayer and the art of listening to Him is the road to heaven via faith in the crucified, risen Savior.
Contentment is a natural element of God's grace as we find and interact with Jesus -not more praise from people, material gains, a more posh home, car, whatever business or other "successes" in life or with ever more money in the bank.
"Godliness with contentment is great gain" writes the man of God. Why? Relationship and "paying INTO it" realizes, not ignoring or forgetting what He paid for you and I. Acquiring more of Him is the key.
As always, thanks for stopping by. -Glenn
I was raised upper middle class in Dallas, Texas. My mother had a thing for jewels and prestige. She married a guy with money and stood aside and let this guy abuse my sister and me mentally and physically, and did nothing. Now she’s 88, living on my sisters property. She is poor, when once she was millionaire. She has 2 or 300,000 dollars worth of jewelry that she can’t sell because nobody spends money for such useless things as adorns the body anymore.
I’m saying these things because my mother sacrificed her children so that she could live the lifestyle of the rich and famous. Now she’s has nothing. She’s living in a camper in Oregon.
