A Music Therapy Mission??

A friend via social media just mentioned their local church were willing to give such ministry a go. He had already been reaching out to veterans (himself a veteran) who often carry a load of cares, sometimes quite deep. Could music help them?

My immediate response was "Tell me more!" which Dustin did.

As time went on, asking local church and others to share in such care for people the entire thing moved from getting guitars and other instruments for vets to learn on and practice to doing so for anyone, for entire families and all who were coming together at set times and even learning how to listen to music- even music outside their "norm".

The staffers teach and befriend, offer coffee and snacks, a listening ear, prayers and the group grows and continues to reach people in need with a therapy offered not by professionals but people who are willing to patiently share what they can via instruments, music instruction and friendship. What a concept, no?!?

They say upfront "We're not a music class. We're not a therapy group." Hmmm. Intriguing...

How many local folks, churches and coffeehouses could do such service for people in need in their local area? Perhaps you'll find the inspiration here:

Let's learn to love others via what we have to share with them!

As always, thanks for stopping by. -Glenn
